Protection of the Marine Environment

Protection of the Marine Environment remains an essential preoccupation of the partners of the Barcelona Convention.

 

 

 

 

The three most important annexes of MARPOL have recently been revised. The revised Annexes I and II entered into force on 1 January 2007, whilst the revised Annex III will enter into force on 1 January 2010.

 

 

 

A SafeMed I report identified impediments and needs for the implementation of MARPOL

The implementation of the new mandatory flag and port States provisions of Annexes I, II and III deserve attention under SafeMed  II.
