Kick-off meeting for the Med MoU Decision-support tool, Casablanca, 2 February 2012

Following a request emanating from the 12th Committee Meeting of the Med MoU on PSC held in Malta in December 2010, the European Commission has tasked the SafeMed II Project with the provision of a decision-support tool to help PSCOs determine which version of the international Conventions from the International Maritime Organization and the International Labour Organization are applicable to ships being inspected under the regime of the Med MoU. 

At the outcome of a public tender procedure, the Korean Register has been awarded the contract to develop such a tool.An ad hoc user group has been set up to monitor the development process and provide feedback in order to ensure the optimal quality of the final product. The kick-off meeting of the project will be held on Thursday February 2 in Casablanca, Morocco, where the Information Centre of the Med MoU is hosted by the Moroccan Direction de la Marine Marchande.
